As soon as my husband and I stepped foot into the Baptist church on that first Sunday, we were greeted with open arms. After a year of attending services, I made the decision to officially join this church family. If you are searching for a warm and welcoming community, look no further. The message of God is truly felt within these walls, and our Pastor Woody Bates is a true blessing. I encourage you to come pay us a visit and mention that Kookie sent you. Sending hugs your way.

I had the pleasure of participating in the Shepherd's Office Church Visitation today, where I was able to attend the morning service at the First Baptist Church in Georgetown, DE. Despite the chilly and windy weather, Pastor Woody warmly greeted us as we arrived, even waving to those driving in. The children were also holding up welcoming signs.

Throughout the service, I met various members of the congregation, such as Judy and her grandson, as well as Brandon and his friendly family who sat beside me. Interestingly, there were two Jims sitting in a row in front of me, which Pastor Joel humorously pointed out.

The service was filled with uplifting praise songs led by Pastor Joel. Pastor Woody encouraged us to fill out prayer cards and provided a worship guide for us to follow along. He mentioned that the church's ministry team has put in great effort to strike a balance between faith and fun for the children, with an upcoming Jingle Jam event scheduled for December 16 and 17.

The highlight of the service was Pastor Woody's powerful message based on Acts 19: 8-20, focusing on Paul's challenging journey to Ephesus to spread the gospel. Pastor Woody emphasized the importance of moving from mere belief to being saved and then striving towards being "spirit-filled." He stressed that God calls us to live dynamic faith lives, even in the face of resistance from others, internal struggles, and spiritual oppression. Pastor Woody reminded us that following the instructions in the Bible is not merely a suggestion but a great commission.

In times when our hearts become hardened or doubtful, it is essential to remain humble and open to daily preaching and teaching. It was a truly inspiring visit, and I am grateful for the warmth and kindness extended to me by everyone at the First Baptist Church.

What a jolly day at the Baptist church! We popped over 400 bags of popcorn, with the helping hands of Ronnie Johnson, Dan and Sue Jenkins, Ron and Sylvia Mason, Joel Pinson, Kathy Phillips, Bill Jones, and yours truly. Later on, we enjoyed the 5 and 7 o'clock services with a delightful theme of "A Country Christmas." And let me tell you, if you missed it, you missed out big time as it was simply spectacular. To top it all off, we wrapped up the evening with a screening of the classic movie, "A Charlie Brown Christmas." What a splendid day and evening it was!
Joseph Gutierrez (5/4/25, 8:02 AM):
I've been attending First Baptist of Georgetown for nearly 4 years now and it has truly been a blessing. The congregation is incredibly welcoming and friendly, embracing people from all walks of life. Pastor Woody prioritizes preaching directly from the Bible, a practice that resonates deeply with me and many others in our community. Our church family is a cherished part of my experience here. I need not convince anyone to join us, as I trust that the Lord will guide those meant to be a part of this wonderful church. May God continue to bless this church and all who come across this message.
