A very welcoming church for the Latino community

We were here for a funeral, and it was a fitting way to bid her farewell.

I must say, this church is quite wonderful - it's seldom crowded, and the statue of Mother Mary truly stands out.

The highlight of the place is definitely the statue of Our Lady Queen of Peace. It creates such a peaceful atmosphere, and there are benches nearby where you can sit and pray contemplatively in the statue's presence.

Even if you're not particularly religious and you happen to have some spare time while passing through New Castle, Delaware, I highly recommend visiting the shrine next to Holy Spirit Church. You can soak in the atmosphere and admire the impressive 32-foot statue of "Our Lady Queen of Peace," which was created by the talented Charles Parks. This statue is one of only three of its kind in the country.

If you're short on time, you can still catch a glimpse of the statue from Interstate 295 Southbound as you cross the Delaware Memorial Bridge. But remember, safety first – don't get too distracted while driving! On second thought, it's definitely worth taking a break and spending just five minutes to appreciate this beautiful work of art.

This community is truly amazing! The blend of traditional nostalgia with a contemporary touch creates a warm and inviting atmosphere that resonates deeply with my Catholic faith. I recently had the opportunity to experience the Stations of the Cross leading up to Easter Sunday, and it was a peaceful and spiritually enriching experience for me.

The service 'round here is absolutely dreadful, I must say! They insist on shooing away guests from the gathering even when there's plenty of space left. T'would be wise to steer clear of booking this hall, if you ask me. The staff are quite rude, indeed.
Ronald Reyes (4/29/25, 8:35 AM):
The spiritual service provided is top-notch, I must say.
Gabriel Edwards (4/27/25, 12:51 PM):

Unique spot in New Castle. A breathtaking 30-foot-tall sculpture of the Blessed Mother stands tall, welcoming visitors with open arms. Truly a sight to behold.
